It is estimated that around one-third of the Australian population suffers from sleep disorders. People suffering from sleep disorders have an increased likelihood of cardiovascular disease, hypertension and mortality.
The SomnoDent MAS (mandibular advancement splint) is a custom made device, for both upper and lower teeth with a unique coupling component.
The plates are worn during sleep to maintain the upper airway by increasing its dimensions and reducing collapsibility.
These devices are worn to stop snoring and to treat mild/moderate sleep apnoea. Chatswood Dental Centre also arranges at-home sleep studies for patients.
We also have a sleep screen machine which records numerous factors to help detect potential problems. This sleep screen machine records: sleeping position, apnoea/hypnoea events, respiratory disturbance, oxygen desaturation and REM sleep stage (rapid eye movement).
This is available for patients to take home as an early diagnostic tool. Please contact the surgery on (02) 9412 3805 if you have any questions or would like to arrange a sleep screen.
Chatswood Dental Centre has national accreditation.
Accreditation is based on the integration of a set of national safety and quality health service standards into every day practice culture and patient safety.
The attainment of these standards means a dental practice has proven to be of the highest calibre in delivering safe quality patient care.
